Mayor Byron Brown Proclaims Women's TAP Fund Day

In celebration with Women’s TAP Fund’s 25th Anniversary, October 4th, 2018 was proclaimed to be Women’s TAP Fund Day in the City of Buffalo by Mayor Byron Brown. The proclamation was read at the 25th Anniversary event, which was attended by many past and present Women’s TAP Fund candidates and supporters.

Proclamation

WHEREAS, The Women’s Taking Action in Politics (TAP) Fund was founded in 1992 with the mission to increase the number of qualified, committed pro-Choice women elected to public office at the local and state level; and

WHEREAS, The Women’s TAP Fund is comprised of hundreds of politically interested, forward-thinking individuals of any political affiliation who live and work in Erie and Niagara Countries; and

WHEREAS, The Women’s TAP Fund is New York’s only regional bipartisan PAC devoted to electing pro-Choice women; and

WHEREAS, More than 100 TAP-endorsed candidates have won their races. Many of these were for re-election, or election to higher office; and

WHEREAS, To date, 27 TAP-endorsed judges have been elected to Buffalo City Court, Erie County Court, Family Court, New York State Supreme Court, and Erie County Surrogate’s Court'; and

WHEREAS, The Women’s TAP Fund is a linked chain of donors - large and small - who financially support a growing pool of capable women candidates for local office. This means that more accomplished women enter the political arena at the regional level and more up to higher office.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, BYRON W. BROWN, Mayor of the City of Buffalo, do hereby proclaim October 4, 2018 as

Women’s TAP Fund Day

in the City of Buffalo and join my fellow citizen in honoring the groups 25 year commitment to electing women.
